Sewing Projects! :)

I have been working on a new colonial outfit for a historical event in December. Yes, I know it is a little early to start sewing, but my older sister and I have a LOT of sewing to finish. Katie, my older sister loves to sew. My whole family is going to a historical ball in October and we are doing a special event in December. I have finished my outfit for December in about four days! :) Yay!!! That includes: a navy blue skirt, a flowered bodice, and an apron. This is my first real sewing project that I have finished on my own. (Okay, I can't take all the credit because my sister helped instruct me and she did about three things that I couldn't do.) So, here are the pictures of my December outfit for the event.

Have a wonderful evening! :)

Praying for Texas...

The people in Texas and Louisiana need our prayers. The devastation from Hurricane Ike is awful. I have seen many pictures this weekend about Texas. They have lost their homes, their belongings, their pets, their businesses, and some have lost their family members. I know that I have a lot of belongings that I would really miss if I lost them. I would also be really sad if I lost one of my family members. It is going to take a really long time to rebuild these affected areas. Please join me in praying for everyone in these states.

~Helpful Tips

1. If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato-it absorbs the excess salt for an instant "fix me up."
2. Brush beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.
3. Place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it back up.
Have a blessed weekend! :)

YAY! Pictures of the Day! :-)

This was a few weeks ago when my family and I went to the beach. It was about to storm and I wanted to take some pictures before we left. Everyone in my family was trying to gather up our beach things while I took some snapshots for the last time of summer 2008. :) It was amazing how fast the wind changed and the sun went behind the clouds. My brother and I were in the water and there was a BIG wave so we went under, but when we came up it was windy and there was no sun. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and Tropical Storm Hanna doesn't come your way.

Scripture of the Day- James 2

"My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet," have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong? If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself,"you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, "Do not commit adultery,"also said, "Do not murder."If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment! "
~James 2
