A Wonderful Week/ Beach Trip

WOW! This has been a crazy week! Let me start from Tuesday... Wait, do you want to know what my week was like? I'm just kidding. :)

Here goes...

~Tuesday: Mom and I cleaned our kitchen, dinning room, living room, and we cleaned the furniture off on our front porch. It was really dusty out there. :) Oh, and Andrew helped us with some vacuuming and dusting. Let's just say that we started cleaning about 11:00am and finished about 5:00pm that night. After all of that cleaning, we grabbed some supper, then Mom and I went to pick Katie up at a babysitting job. In the mean time, Andrew and Daddy stayed at home to spend some time just being "boys". After we got home, we chilled until bedtime. Ahhhh...it was nice. *smile* So, we went to bed with the satisfying feeling of having a very clean house (Well, half of the house. Oops, we were too tired to finish. haha! More to come on that...).

~Wednesday: Mom, Andrew and I got up, ate breakfast, and got ready to go do some errands in town. We were waiting to see if my camera had come in the mail before we went to town. I was so excited when I saw the mailman coming to the door with a box. "It came!" :) When we finished all of our errands, we went to a friends house at 1:00 and stayed for a couple of hours. It was a wonderful visit! :) We left our friends house and went to the library for my Grandma. We took the books to her and headed home. After we got home, we read some books that we checked out from the library. That was a lovely day! :)

~Thursday: Mom and I finished the other half of our house. Katie was babysitting again that day so she missed out on the cleaning. :) Thursday was not as much *deep* cleaning as it was on Tuesday. We did the bedrooms, bathrooms and the hallway. That didn't take very long. We worked on vacuuming, dusting, Mom mopped the floors, and I cleaned the bathrooms. After we finished the cleaning, my friend, Anna and her Mom came over for a couple of minutes. Mrs. Lorraine hadn't seen my Mom in awhile so it was a perfect day to drop by. We had a lovely little visit and I can't wait for another. :)

~Friday: Mom, Katie, Andrew, and I went to the Post Office, Michael's, Walmart, and few other places in town. When we were at Walmart, Katie and I found some very cute sun dresses! I will try to post pictures soon... Before we went home that day, Mom got some eggs at a local produce farm. We have been buying fresh veggies and eggs there for many years. I had never thought of doing this, but Mom is the one who mentioned it to me and we decided to see if it would work out. We asked the lady who runs the farm if I could start selling homemade wheat bread at her farm. Her answer was yes! I can't wait to see if it works out. I just have to figure out a name for my little business. Any name suggestions?

~Saturday: My whole family did different things around the house. We worked on laundry, I made some bread for the beach trip, Daddy waxed the van, lots of different things. :) Mom was having a little bit of trouble with her stomach but, at 11:00 last night Katie and I did a pedicure on her. We massaged lavender vanilla oil on her feet and it took the pain away! It smelled so good in the living room! :)

~Today: We are going to start packing for the beach trip! My family and I are leaving on Tuesday and we will get back on Thursday. I don't know if I will post anymore until we get back or not but, I just wanted to let you all know what I've been doing. :)

Talk to you all soon!

Young Maiden's Daybook - May 25th

It feels like forever since I last posted. Since the 13th I have had my 15th birthday, which was a beautiful day. I enjoyed the day with my terrific family. Katie made my favorite supper: Poppyseed Chicken, brown rice, and asparagus. I finished up the day with yummy cheesecake from Sam's Club. :) It was SO good! I also got lots of birthday calls and emails. It was a great birthday! I have also finished my 9th year in school since I posted. We did our end of the year testing last week. It is now time to have a summer break! :)

I found this daybook the other day and thought it would be a wonderful way for you all to get to know me a little better. I hope you enjoy reading it!

*Today…
May 25, 2009 (It is Memorial Day! Thank you to the troops that keep our country safe!)

*Outside my window…
It is a beautiful spring morning. The sun is shining. The birds are singing a lovely tune. The sky is full of big, fluffy, white clouds and lots of flowers are blooming in the yard. Ahhhh...so nice. :)

*I am thinking…
That God is so good to bless us with such amazing things in life to be thankful for.

*I am thankful for…
A wonderful family, a very cozy bed to sleep in, a refrigerator full of food, a good job for my Daddy, a patient Mom who has been my school teacher for 9 years (Thank you, Mom!), cold AC for this summer, and lots of clean fresh water to cool off with.

*I am wearing…
My favorite white skirt, green and white striped t-shirt, and flip flops.

I am reading…
The Bible, So Much More, Life of Faith: Mille Keith Book 8, and The Remarkable Women of the Bible by Elisabeth George.

*I am creating…
An apron and crocheting washcloths to sell. (I will soon be posting about Etsy...)

*One of my favorite things…
Reading a really good book outside on a cool summer day with nothing else to do. So nice... :)

*For education this week…
Whatever I have the pleasure to learn on the way.

*A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…
Homemaking skills.

*A spiritual lesson I’m learning…
Learning to be humble.

*A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Following God's will for my life. He has already written my story in life and I want to do what He wants not what I want.

*Scripture I am memorizing…
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." -Mark 12:30

*I am praying for…
Mom's cancer to shrink or Lord willing that it will be completely gone from her body on June 10th, Daddy's job to continue to do well in the economy, Little Tait's Preemie Fund to raise enough money that Tait and Lauren need to pay off the hospital bill by June 3, Baby Stellan to continue to stay healthy and strong, Meredith's family to have courage to press on during the transition of moving, and my future husband to have a pure heart for only me and that he will continue to grow into a mature and godly young man that is on fire for the Lord.

*For the rest of the week…
Today, I am going to have fantastically great Memorial Day with my family. Tomorrow we will be doing some deep, spring cleaning of our house and attacking Mount Laundry. Wednesday, we are going to a friend's house in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday, not sure yet. Saturday, wash clothes again. This time it's going to be for the the beginning of packing for the beach! YAY! :)

*A picture I’d like to share…

This is the camera I bought with my birthday money! I hope it will come in the mail tomorrow. I can't wait to have more pictures to share with all of you! It will also be nice to have a camera that actually works when you have a great picture in motion. :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Little Tait...

Tait and Lauren Zimmerman got married last year on May 3, 2008. They were very excited when they found out that they were expecting their very first child a month later. On November 6, 2008 Tait Zimmerman Jr. was born-- three months prematurely. Because little Tait Jr. was born so early, he had to spend the first three months of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Lord gave the doctors wisdom to sustain Little Tait's life. He has recently come home and is doing very well! I can only imagine that there are many financial needs that have to be met due to little Tait's three month stay in the NICU. I encourage you like so many others are to please visit http://www.littletait.com/ to learn more about the Zimmerman's and consider giving them help with their financial needs. They are trying to meet a June deadline for one of the larger hospital bills. Please check out the site and spread the word! If you can't give them help with their financial needs, I am sure that they would greatly appreciate your prayers for this cause!

Scripture of the Week...

I think I am going to change the name of Scripture of the Week. It needs more pizzazz! :) Do you like the name: A Scripture to Share? Please tell me if you have any names that you think are better. I am very open to "new" ideas. :-)

"One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 3:13-14

Beautiful Poem- Footprints In The Sand

Footprints In The Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."

Random Thoughts

OK, Practically Pink has been a long lost blog for long enough. :) I am sorry, I haven't been posting much lately. I have been busy with school, trying to find modest clothes for spring and summer with mom. It hasn't been easy but we did find a few skirts and tops at JCPenney's. I have been helping my family with daily chores (laundry, cleaning, washing dishes, cooking, etc.), trying to finish up my Bible study homework, crocheting washcloths to sell, making an apron, reading books and so much more it would take a long time to type it all out. :)

The month of May is very busy for my family. We have 3 birthdays (Katie's is Saturday, my Dad's is the 7th and mine is the 20th), Mother's Day, and we usually try to finish up school at the end of the month.

Anyway, my family and I should have a fun weekend of relaxation. My aunt, uncle, and my cousin are coming for a visit today through Sunday. We are going to the river for a family reunion. It should be fun to see everyone! :) That is what my weekend is going to be like! What are you all doing?

Oh, my mom sent this to me in an email and it was so cute I had to share it with you all...

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to
school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She
wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence
but yet know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a
neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the
mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't
notice her.

She said that since she was up early with her toddler
anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise
as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set
out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with
another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole
week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs,
Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was
following them as she seemed to do every day all week.
Finally she said to Timmy, 'Have you noticed that lady
following us to school all week? Do you know her?'
Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she
is.'
The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'
'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' Timmy replied,
'and her daughter Marcy.'

'Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she
following us? '

'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mom
makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she
worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says,
"Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the
days of my life", so I guess I'll just have to get
used to it!'

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to
shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His
countenance upon you,and give you peace.

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and
always.

I know you smiled at that story! :)

Make sure to have a good time wherever/whatever your plans are this weekend! God is blessing you with another day so make sure that you make it a great memory.

Blessings on your day,
