Wonderful Results! (Written by Mom)

Mom had a CT scan today and we just got the results! Her doctor said everything looks VERY good! Although, we do need ya'll to pray about one thing. Here are some more details...

(Written by Mom)

I had a CT scan done today to see how things are progressing with my treatment. The doctor just called with the results. He said everything looks VERY GOOD! He said the tumor has shrunk from 2 inches to a 1/2 inch! Praise God!!!!! I do need ya'll to pray about one thing though. The radiologist doesn't have anything to compare with so I'm to get a copy of the previous MRI to them next week. From the radiologist report, there are areas that look like metastatis, but my doctor talked to the radiologist and they agreed that because I'm doing so well, that more than likely (notice emphasis) it is where healing is taking place or scar tissue. My doctor told me not to worry because he said it is hard to distinguish this in the lung especially if you don't have anything to compare it to. The radiologist agreed with him that if it has metastasized, we would be seeing symptoms of that and we're not. Remember all this started with back pain and I have NO pain in my body!! Praise God!!

So, please continue to pray that when the radiologist sees the previous MRI and compares this to the CT next week, that he will confirm that this is healing tissue, not metastatis. I'll let you know as soon as I know.

As we wrap up the year, it's been an extraordinary year to say the least. God has been so good to us and has never left us to walk this path alone. I've never felt his presence like I have this year. The peace that passes all understanding has been a gift He has given to us, one I can't quite explain, but know it has been so precious. The lessons we've learned, the prayers we've seen answered, the love we've experienced, the grace He has given to sustain us have been a gift. I know people think I'm crazy when I say that this cancer diagnosis has been a gift, but when you really think about it, it is. I've learned to rely on the Father in a way I have never known before. I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. We're in the palm of His hand, right where He wants us to be.

For each prayer you've prayed for us, for the phone calls, the emails, the cards, and other expressions of love and concern, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This year will not be forgotten. It's all written down on paper. Who knows, one day it might be a book. My prayer is that He receives all the glory for the great things He has done. My spirit just shouts on the inside with excitement about all He has done and will do in the future! "I will recount the gracious deeds of the Lord, the praiseworthy acts of the Lord, because of all the Lord has done for us,"… Isaiah 63:7a,b

May the New Year be one where we all find ourselves seeking His face more each day, drawing closer to Him, and learning to walk closer with Him! May it be filled with love, joy, peace, and good health for each of us! Thanks for sharing the journey with us!

Living with hope,

Molly, Eddie, Katie, Emily, and Andrew

Merry CHRISTmas!

The Story Of Christmas

From Luke 2: 1-20

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. And all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Have a Merry CHRISTmas!

Christmas 2009

Christmas has always been a special holiday for me, but the reason for the season has been pushed around a lot through the years. The reason we even started Christmas was because we wanted to have a special day to celebrate Jesus's birthday. That's why it's called CHRISTmas. The world has slowly pushed the real reason out of the way...That's why my family has chosen to celebrate Jesus on December 25th. While the world is shopping for the best presents, going to all the parties that they can go to, and sitting on Santa's knee, we are remembering what the real meaning of Christmas means and enjoying the joys of Christmas. Don't get me wrong, we do some fun things, but we try to have Jesus in our mind throughout that busy part of the year too. :) We like to enjoy the little things like, listening to Christmas music, wrapping presents, making goodies and taking them to neighbors, going to parties as a family, singing Christmas carols, and re-nacting a 1770's Christmas at a near-by historical site. On our Christmas morning, we get up, look through our stockings, open gifts, have breakfast, and then we go to see my Grandma J (mom's mom). Later in the afternoon we go and see my other Grandma and my dad's brother's family (Uncle Bobby, Aunt Kim, Christopher, and Caroline), we have supper there and open some gifts from each other. We always have a wonderful time and I am very thankful to have those hours together. Merry Christmas Everyone!

SC Trip: Charleston SC

After we left my aunt and uncle's house on Friday afternoon, we headed toward Charleston, SC. We checked into our hotel room at the Hampton Inn, found our coats and headed out to tour the city.

Not something you would see everyday, right?

Walking to the Old City Market...

"Are we going in the right direction?"

Almost everywhere you look you'll see carriage tours going by downtown.

Downtown Charleston

Old City Market
The main building is called Market Hall and behind Market Hall, four open-air buildings span from Meeting Street to East Bay Street, near the waterfront. More than 100 vendors sell local foods and souvenirs there. We also got to see ladies who weave and sell sweet-grass baskets. While we were in Market Hall, we got something sweet to eat at the Market Street Bakery and Cafe (That was the best Strawberry Cream-Cheese Croissant I have ever had) and, and then headed to James Island...

The Hotel

The sun set was really pretty as we were driving across the bridge!

That night we went to The Festival of Lights! I would highly recommend going and seeing it if you're around James Island around Thanksgiving. It was amazing!

Saturday morning, we got ready for the day, went downstairs for a big breakfast, and then Andrew, Daddy and I went to the Charleston Museum. It was right across the street from the hotel. Mom and Katie stayed at the hotel and started packing up our things in the room.

The Charleston Museum was really interesting and I would have loved to stay longer, but we had a good time learning about all the history of Charleston while we were there. When we got back to the hotel, Katie and Mom had everything packed up and ready to go to the car. We loaded the car up and went down to the Battery before we left to go home.

I just loved this hotel! I wonder why? :)

The houses downtown were really pretty...

The Battery...

Walking on the Battery

After we went to the Battery, we stopped to see a tree called the The Angel Oak on Johns Island. Here is some history on it. It was really big, but very pretty.

The Angel Oak

At this point in our trip we were ready to get home. The only problem was we had about a 6 hour drive home and we hadn't left Charleston yet. It was already about 4:30 at that point. :)
Crossing the new Charleston bridge to go home...

We crossed over the bridge and drove about an hour before we were getting hungry. Daddy stopped by Bojangles and Taco Bell for us and we kept going. We got home about 11:00 that night and we all were glad to be home. Being away from your own home for 3 nights and 4 days is a long while. Well, at least for us. :)

So that was our entire South Carolina trip! We had such a wonderful time, and the time we spent together as a family was really nice. I am so grateful to the Lord for the wonderful weather that we had and for His safekeeping of us. We were truly blessed to be able to come home to our own beds without any car trouble or car accidents since it was a holiday weekend.  Going down to SC, we were actually stalled in traffic on I-95!  I hope you all enjoyed seeing the pictures! Stay tuned for pictures of Christmas at our house!  I'll post them as soon as I can.

By His Grace,
