“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…”

Snow in December?  Yes, you did read that correctly.  We got our first dusting of snow last Saturday night.  Here are a few pictures I took of it when it started falling… December 2010 part 1 114

Winter has officially set in here in North Carolina and I think we're stuck with it until spring.  You will now find Eastern NC wearing many layers, sweaters, hoodies.  Now whenever we go outside, we always wear our wool coats, gloves, hats, and scarves.  Like my mom said yesterday: “Oh, just breath in that fresh, clean, cold air!  It’s good for your lungs." “Me:  “I’m freezing out here, though.’’  Mom:  “Oh, Emily…It’s exhilarating!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep, if you ever get sleepy and need to wake up fast, just step outside and I promise you will not stay outside for long.  It wouldn’t really feel like Christmas if it wasn’t cold though, right?
New Family Movies:  Have any of you been able to go see the new Disney movie, “Tangled”?  TangledFlynnRidertangled-trailer-front

If you haven’t seen it yet already, you really should go see it with your family.  It’s now on my “Top 5” list of favorite movies.  I got to go see it with Katie, Andrew, Sarah-Anne, and her brother, Clark on Tuesday and it is such an adorable movie.  I think I’ll always be a kid at heart…
Speaking of movies... The Voyage of the Dawn Treader comes out today!  The-Chronicles-of-Narnia-The-Voyage-of-the-Dawn-Treader-Movie-Poster{Picture from Google Images}
It is the third installment of The Chronicles of Narnia series by Walden Media.  I think my family and I will wait a little while before we go and see it because of the crowds, but I’m getting very excited about it.  :-)
Shopping Trips with Mom: Yesterday, Mom and I went into town to run some errands and buy a few Christmas presents.  We’re actually almost finished with our shopping!  It’s such a good feeling to have all of our gifts hidden away in the house., although it’s almost time for them to be wrapped and put under the tree!  I think we went to about 12 different stores last night, but we got all of our errands finished and we even had time to stop at Zaxby’s for supper.  Have any of you ever tried the “Zensation Zalad” before?  Oh, my goodness that was so delicious!  Mom and I had never tried it before, but it’s amazing and I’ll definitely be getting it again.   I just love Christmas shopping  with mom!  :-)
Playing Games: The other night Andrew, my dad, and I played a game of Monopoly together.  We hadn’t played it in awhile, but we had a wonderful time together.  I had my camera nearby, and I decided to experiment with the colorful game board.  :-)

  4. Hee hee! Although we don't have snow very often, my mom is the same way. My sisters and I say "Brrr! It's cold!" and my mom says, "It's refreshing!".
I like your snow pictures! :-)

I've been wanting to see tangled... :-) It sounds like many people like it. I am looking forward to seeing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, too.

It's been a while since I played monopoly. How long did the game last? :-D

Looking forward to seeing the winners of your giveaways!

    Blessings,

  5. Great post...I enjoyed reading it!

Having snow seems to give that Christmas feeling :) Although sometimes it would be nice if there could be the snow without the cold!

I saw Voyage of the Dawn Treader yesterday...it's really good!

  8. Thats really neat you have snow!!!
Here in Alaska it is SO beautiful everywhere...with lots of snow and the trees are covered with the beautiful white powder :)
At our house however we happen to get the wind more and so our snow is gone of the trees and in big drifts :( We don't like that part of it, but then, it is just life I suppose.
I wouldn't trade living in this state for anywhere else.
God's hand of wonderful creation is easily seen by the landscape He sets before us everyday.

Blessings, and enjoy your hopefully white Christmas,
    Hannah
