A New Blog on the Block!

I'm about to go start on some projects for the day, but I wanted to write out a quick post before I do. I wanted to let you all know about a new blogger on the block. My friend, Moriah, started a blog a couple of weeks ago and I told her that I would post about it for her. She is a wonderful young lady who has a hearts desire to serve her God with her whole heart and she is very encouraging to me. Head over to her blog and leave her a comment! I know she would love to"meet" you! Visit her at: http://www.uniquelyfashionedforhisglory.blogspot.com/

Happy Blogging, Moriah! :)

What a Wonderful Day-My 16th Birthday

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!  I had a wonderful 16th birthday and your sweet comments contributed greatly to my wonderful day. :)

I spent my birthday with my family and I also had a surprise birthday visit from my dear friend, Anna and her mother.  They were so sweet and brought me a birthday balloon and a present as well.  This is what she got me:
A neat cookbook with lots of different recipes. They look delicious!

and...
Bath and Body Works- Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel!  It was a perfect gift because I was just needing some new body wash.  Thank you again, Anna! :)

I also received these presents on my birthday...
Some pretty note cards...
...and some scrap booking supplies. :)

In the evening, Katie made a special birthday supper for me and we all watched "The Young Victoria" together.  After we finished watching the movie, we ate some homemade Key Lime Pie (made by Katie).  It was delicious!  Andrew made sure to put exactly sixteen candles on it for me too.  When he brought it out of the kitchen, it looked like a glowing pie that was ready to go up in flames.  Well, maybe not to that extreme, but it was a very bright pie.
Thank you everyone for making my birthday such a special one! :)

My 16th Birthday!!!

Today is my 16th birthday!! I don't know about you, but I just love birthdays! No matter how old you are turning.  :D

I want to thank my amazing family for putting up with me for these last 15 years. You all are SO very special to me and I wouldn't trade you for anything! I love you all so much!!

I also want to thank all of my lovely blog readers, too, for your nice comments over this past year. You're all fantastic and I am so blessed by all of the many friendships I'm made through this blog!!

And lastly, I want to thank my Lord for giving me these 15 years of life on His beautiful earth. His creation never ceases to amaze me, and His love and plans for my life are just phenomenal. He's been there every step of the way, and I am so grateful for everything He has done in my life!! He is everything to me.

Much love, ♥

Good Ol' Basic Chocolate Chip Cookies

You know that feeling that you get when you just have to get some chocolate? Well, I had one of those "chocolate craving moments" the other night and I began to raid the kitchen cabinets and drawers. After looking all around for a candy bar of some sort and not finding anything, I decided to make some cookies. I had seen a recipe on Meredith's blog awhile back that looked good, so I went on her blog, found the recipe and headed to the kitchen to mix up a batch. I'm the type of girl that likes cookies with crispy edges, but are still soft and chewy in the middle. This recipe was a huge success!

My family loves chocolate chip cookies and we're always trying out new recipes with the hope of finding the perfect recipe that creates cookies that are crispy on the edges yet soft in the middle. Many people try to find "the perfect recipe" and I believe that this is pretty close to best one that we have found. This recipe calls for flax seed and crushed coffee granules, but we were out of both ingredients, so I couldn't try it out this time around. I'm not sure what it would taste like, but maybe I'll try it out that way next time.

They turned out very well and defiantly got me out of the "chocolate craving mood"! I look forward to trying more recipes from The Pioneer Woman Cooks later this summer.

Have a blessed weekend!

Mother's Day and FF Challenge-Day 6

It's Mother's Day! Today is a very special day dedicated to all the mothers in the world. I just wanted to tell my wonderful mom how much I love her and how much I appreciate the sacrifices she has made for me. Thank you for all that you do for me and the rest of the family! We all love you! I hope you have a beautiful day, Mom!

Her children arise and call her blessed;her husband also, and he praises her:"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. ~Proverbs 31:28-31 (NIV)

My Very Scary Morning...

This morning turned from a beautiful morning to a very scary one...for the whole family. Katie tweeted about it  after I left for the doctor and since it tells the details so well, I'm posting her tweets here.

~Please pray for Emily... She passed out this morning and gave us all quite a scare. She is okay now but she wanted me to ask for prayer...

for her neck since she hit it really hard on the tile when she fell. We are thinking that she passed out because of her blood sugar...

She is on her way to the doctor to make sure her neck is okay since it hurts really bad...~

Mom and I went to the doctor about 10:30 this morning and found out why I passed out. The doctor said that it's a classic type of story from many of her patients. I was very relieved to hear that. She said that when your body is asleep, it doesn't have to pump much blood to your brain and then, if you get up too fast when you get up in the morning, your body gets a sudden shock to the brain, and it can cause your body to shut down and start back up again. That's why she thinks I passed out. The body doesn't have time to pump enough blood and get things moving if you get up quickly and that's exactly what I did too.  Anyway, I'm okay except for a sore neck and I'm very tired.  If you think about it, please pray for me to have a speedy recovery and that I don't pass out again any time soon (or ever. :D).  Also, I'll try to post Day 4's outfit with tomorrow's post.

Blessings,

For My Daddy on His Birthday...

Happy, happy, birthday, Daddy! Really and truly, you are the most wonderful father in the whole wide world. I am so incredibly thankful that the Lord gave you to me as my dad! I feel so blessed to be able to spend another year with you, and I pray that this day will not be the last, but only one of many years to come for me to celebrate your birthday with you. Thank you for loving me and the rest of the family so unconditionally. I'll love you forever and ever.

Much Love,

In Him,

The Feelin' Feminine Challenge

For the next seven days I will be participating in Feelin Feminine's Do Not Conform challenge, which means that I'll be wearing skirts for an entire week, May 4th-May 10th. Since I already wear skirts and dresses on a pretty regular basis in the spring and summer, it shouldn't be very hard for me.

This month's Challenge is hosted by another blogging Emily, so head on over and check the details out at her blog, and then go over to the Feelin' Feminine website and sign up with the Mcklinky.

I honestly wasn't panning on doing the challenge this month, but after seeing some really cute outfits from other blogging friends that had already started, I've decided to join in the fun. I really was planning on just watching this time around but, I figured I might as well try and keep up and share my outfits with ya'll. Although, since it's sort of last minute and my life is very busy right now, I may not be able to get things posted each day, but who knows. I'm going to try...that's for sure! One more thing before I go, I challenge you to join in the fun with us! It's so much fun to mix and match outfits for a whole week! I'm sure you would love doing it as much as I do. What do you say?
