Cooking in the Kitchen--Toffee Bars

December 2010 014Ingredients:

1 stack of saltine crackers

2 sticks of butter

1 cup of sugar

12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips

1/2 chopped pecans

Directions:  Line a jelly roll pan with foil.  Cover bottom of pan with saltine crackers.   December 2010 002 Melt butter and sugar over medium/ low heat on the stove.  Stir constantly until blended.  Pour over crackers.  Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. December 2010 003 Sprinkle chips IMMEDIATELY after removing from oven.  December 2010 010 Spread chocolate on crackers and cool completely.  December 2010 013 Sprinkle pecans over the bars and break up into pieces.    December 2010 016 Enjoy.... :) December 2010 017We made a batch of these in December and they are positively delicious!  Perfect for a lovely winter party.  I recommend trying them if you’ve never had them before.  They are so tasty and the recipe is super easy!

  1. I've seen this recipe before and I really want to try it! I still have to many sweets in the house from Christmas right now though so I think I'll have to wait before making this. :)

  2. We make this recipe very often, although we call it Christmas Bark! It is absolutely delicious, and in fact, I just made some last week! :)

  3. A lady from my church made these and brought them to our Christmas potluck at church. She sprinkled hers with slivered almonds instead of pecans. They were SO yummy! I thought it was funny to have the saltine crackers but they help to hold everything together and add that salty flavor to the toffee and chocolate! A simple but yummy chocolate toffee! I can't wait to try the recipe myself! :)
